This is the story, in progress, of how Peter Schulz, and his company Disruptive Wind, is bringing bold new innovation to our world.

Bernie-boarding has taken over my life!
From Facebook today:
Bernie-boarding update/summary: It works.
We are actively debating the path forward*.
We are learning a lot with every test session, each which has a set of defined goals.
16 MPH of wind has proven to be the best for "gliding" mode for the latest Dream Dare prototype. Multi-modal use with the same watercraft without needing to change or adjust ANYTHING is the true strength of this innovation, in my opinion.
The team strongly believes that, although this can be taken completely into a new sport altogether, we should focus on tying it to an existing sport to ease entry for early adopters.
*There are drawbacks and challenges that can be ignored and a product introduced to the market this summer (Shark Tank argument, make money!) .
Or, we could explore more, invent more, and wait for a "perfected" product, since we have effectively no competitors.
Hopefully, another round of prototypes and testing will give us the data we need to clarify our path!

Where am I? Or should it be when...?
Greetings from the future! I think. Therefore, I am.
Wow, a crazy place to be at. I am compelled to post an update after yesterday's incredible events.
Let's start from the start and just maybe this will make some sense.
I am an inventor. Also a product developer. Possibly an entrepreneur. Certainly a water-sports enthusiast.
I had a crazy idea that arose through lucid dreaming that morphed into a sizable group of inventions, which I am working on combining into one extreme watercraft.
This new watercraft is not a typical "evolutionary" type improvement over what already exists. It's more of a leap into a new realm of possibilities. Common sense, "rules of thumb", even conventional physics, all indicate this thing should not work. I like to use a starship / warp drive euphemism when discussing this thing. Rather than just saying "this thing" all the time.
I have built some "test platforms" because to say prototype is too generous and would be deceiving. What I have built is nowhere near what an actual product would even look like. Or so I thought.
Dream Dare 1, 2 and 3 is what I call them. I have built them and done some initial real world testing under the best secrecy that can be managed these days.
Dream Dare 1 was a success after traveling the first 20 feet under impulse power. It floats, it moves, I am able to pilot it! I was very surprised and amazed. There were a huge number of configuration decisions to be made so I expected to have to try a number of different set ups before finding one that worked. So lucky. I will humbly take credit for some skill as well.
So Dream Dare 1 worked fine under impulse power. There are a lot of operational modes. More than I anticipated. I immediately went from impulse power to glide mode. Glide mode is all the rage these days, in a related field of endeavor that is seeing renewed interest. I expected glide mode to be the main operational mode of this starship, which I would then refine until my "hoped for" goals were met. Glide mode is smooth, easy, relatively safe. My starship is hoping to have the best glide mode in the universe. My glide mode is going to love chop and waves and be easy on the joints.
Then there is warp drive. Who doesn't want to go fast at some point? Well, after a short time in glide mode, I kicked into warp drive. This was not the plan. I was supposed to get comfortable navigating around and yet here I am heading all the way across the mighty Columbia River and kicking it into warp drive. It was just so easy. Well, it just worked. Exciting. Easy transitions between modes.
I exhausted myself quickly. Went home and readied Dream Dare 2 (DD2).
DD2 was focused on going extreme with glide mode. My initial guess at a configuration was way off, I believe. Might have been the conditions but, in any event, it did not work well. The shock wave I was hoping to ride (ride your own wave!) intersected incorrectly and threw the whole balance off. Reality is beginning to set in, along with some doubts. But it is very early and I am still quite excited and motivated so I came up with a plan for DD3.
I got DD3 out for a test day before yesterday. Conditions were good initially but soon worsened. There was also a group of ships out showing off how fun their glide mode was working. I know one of the captains so I was leery about secrecy. So I stayed mostly under impulse power with a little bit of glide mode and a blast of warp drive when I thought no one was looking. That warp drive sure is addictive and fun! I was very happy to be so proficient on a "first time" test platform in just minutes. I became a master at impulse power just cruising around all over the place and finally called it a day.
Now for yesterday! Conditions were great. No one around anywhere. How could this be? Fools!
But great for me. Kicked it into warp drive immediately and spent a lot of time there over the course of the day. Tried out some other modes. Some worked, some need work on test platform configuration or piloting skills. The evasive mode I was very excited about during initial conception eludes me so far. This does not surprise me, I expect the most work, and largest payoff, to be in pursuing this mode. Expect this to be a surprise later if it works. There are a lot of secret modes not discernible by simply looking at the physical structure. That's one of the things that has me so excited. It does more than you can even imagine, myself included.
So yesterday I am having a great time exploring warp drive and various new modes of operation, including reverse edging mode (utilizes a hidden control surface). There is a super secret mode I will call trans-dimensional warp (TD warp). Very dangerous and certainly very extreme. I had envisioned this possibility early on but planned on having a refined prototype and support crew before daring it. I don't even have a good plan for transitioning out of it. WELL, everyone can chew me out big time for doing this, but conditions were just right, with no one around. I just could not help myself.
Kicked it into TD warp and WOW! Just a little bit, not really full on, I was blown away by how exciting and fun this mode was, So I just went for it - maximum TD warp!
Well, my poor little DD3 could not take the strain as I reached unthinkable speed and there was a warp core breach / crash. The destruction was staggering (over a thousand dollars in damage), the pain was intense. Yet, both I and DD3 functioned well enough that I used regular warp drive all the way home! DD3 will have to be rebuilt and future captains will have to be warned. TD warp will remain a super secret mode for quite some time to come.
In conclusion, there is no doubt in my mind I have created a new watercraft/sport. It may not ultimately meet all my design criteria but certainly meets enough of them to justify continued pursuit (and IP protection). This is an extreme design and will not be for everyone. I'm OK with that, I never thought it would be.
But I bet a lot of folks will be wanting to try it. I'll try to make that happen as soon as I can. - Peter

Warp drive
Just posted on Disruptive Wind Facebook page:
"As many of you already know, I am obsessively working night and day on a top secret project involving water based transportation. I feel like I am in some sort of alternate universe where I am starring in a B movie trying to create a warp drive in my backyard shed. Nobody with any smarts would be trying to do what I am going after. It's too difficult, dangerous, expensive, impractical, After all, one normally does rocket science to go to places like Mars, but I just want to get to New York....! "
As usual, my idea was easy to expand on and get excited about. But in practice, I have run head on into the realities of the real world. Needing to heed the laws of chemistry and physics. Utilizing only limited resources, while maintaining utmost secrecy, this has been perhaps my greatest challenge yet. Way behind on my timetable. Yet I continue because I owe it to myself, and the universe that has supported me so nicely, to see where this goes. Bear with me, thanks! And vote for Bernie Sanders!

A funny thing happened...
Congratulations to Bernie Sanders! Hopefully, he can lead us on a new path here in the USA.
Speaking of new paths, a funny thing happened on the way to bringing the Instigator (TM) to the world.
I literally dreamed up a better idea.
Inventing is usually goal driven. After all, why would invent unless there was a problem to solve, a need to address, an end result envisioned, etc.. The Instigator (TM) fell into that category. The idea was to combine some "new"concepts and achieve a new end result that would be "better" than products already on the market. The "I can do that better" type thing.
Ideas are easy. Product development: DIFFICULT. A lot of criteria to meet ; buildable, practical, affordable, marketable, durable, on and on... As questions and hurdles arise, things become more complicated and usually compromises are made, The goal ends up changing, Reality steps in and tells you what can end up with. At some point you may end up saying
"but that's not what I envisioned"!
You consider whether to just kill it and move on.
This was starting to happen with the Instigator (TM). The math and physics was driving me crazy. When entering new territory, sometimes there is just not enough "known science" to do successful modeling. Then you have to do extensive experimentation to advance your scientific knowledge. I love doing this; often discoveries are made that spawn new ideas and inventions, or sometimes you circle back to someone else's idea or worse, reach a total dead end. Well, this is a business, not a hobby, and it was becoming apparent that the risk/reward ratio was not encouraging. I could put a lot of effort into this and not get there. Always a risk, but I hope I am learning from the past and making better decisions based on prior experience.
So I had a hard look at what the end result criteria were i.e. what did I want to accomplish?
I wanted to use "discoveries" from the sports of surfing, stand up paddle boarding, kite boarding, windsurfing, skiing, snowboarding, and <not disclosing> to create a new exciting watercraft that will accomplish my performance goals and be visually stunning to watch. I want everyone that sees it in action to be astonished and envious. I want it to be an obvious winner!
Coincidentally, I have been experimenting (as a hobby) with lucid dreaming and meta-programming of the human mind. Mind blowing stuff! Kinda sorta the stuff one does not really talk about, lest thought of as going off the deep end! As in losing it, wacko, crazy. Yes, I am preparing you for something extraordinary.
First however, I look at this "problem" as a giant "equation" of ideas as "variables". The end result (equals) is obviously going to be variable as well. The solution is writing an equation that interrelates all these and has a end result that works for me. Tackling this "head on" , with my conscious mind, I can not get there. So I "put in an order" and put my brain to work while sleeping. I should point out that dreams are often ignorant of common sense and the laws of nature. We often wake up and although we were totally accepting what was happening as real during the dream, "obviously not possible", not reality, sometimes "thank goodness that was a dream"!
On January 30th I posted on Facebook:
"Eureka! The breakthrough we have all been waiting for fully gelled at 7:15 PM PST on January 30, 2016. This was actually staring me in the face for months now, yet I failed to see it. I credit a successful experiment with lucid dreaming last night."
On Feb 2nd: "Another HUGE breakthrough! Once again, a whole new world has opened up and new ideas are flooding in as fast I can write them down. Field testing of these new concepts is going to be so much fun!"
On Feb 3rd :"Good things come in threes? Well, it's day #3 of breakthroughs and epiphanies. Physics research is paying off big time. What almost everyone ,who thinks they know anything about what I am working on, would consider an insurmountable obstacle (as I did yesterday) , I now believe to be an advantage that I intend to exploit!"
"Dream Dare 1" is the name I have given the prototype that will be built and tested this spring in absolute secrecy. I have to say that even now it seems to be an improbable and impossible idea. The breakthrough idea that my brain came up with assumes a "leap of faith" unproven hypothesis that I can not even envision a way to evolve there or even test; it truly is a revolutionary idea.
The prototype will test this hypothesis.
It will either work or it won't!
We will no doubt learn something in the process.
Before wrapping this up, I need to explain WHY I am so excited. Dream Dare 1 does not just meet the criteria for a successful solution. It EXCEEDS by a YUGE margin , providing capabilities I had not even thought of. An incredible invention, let's just hope it works!
Please vote for Bernie Sanders for President
Thanks!

Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year!
I'm happy to announce that Disruptive Wind has a name at last for the new toy:
The Instigator (TM) Wave Maker !
Instigator (TM) being the trademarked brand , and wave maker being the descriptive term.
I was not planning to, but I ended up spending over a month out of the country, 4 weeks of that on a remote tropical island. A great place to windsurf, kiteboard, dive, snorkel, surf, kayak, paddleboard, etc.. I windsurfed to another island 2 1/2 miles away and set a new speed record on the broad reach return of over 30 MPH! I also rode a peeling wave that was over mast high on my seventh journey out into the sea! I think this will be a great place to hold a pro camp to train folks on the Instigator (TM) once we are at that point. Imagine some of the best talent on the planet getting together for a 2 week long party, paid for by their sponsors at a fantastic place I'm sure most have never been. The food is delicious, staff is awesome, and the Instigator (TM) so much fun! Because we are designing it to be.
I wish I could say more, but our competitors (at least some of them) are already scrambling to improve their products and sales pitches. This is a good thing if we can stand out from that but since we are not that far along yet, I do not want to give too much advantage away. We are still looking at various business plans/models and performing literally thousands of thought experiments so that our upcoming physical R & D costs will be minimized.
I have spent a lot of time the past couple of months "zooming out" on our business. 2015 saw a number of new inventions which are mostly being put on hold as we "zoom in" again to focus on the Instigator (TM). The MoaB (TM) repositioner is not forgotten, we will be continuing to revamp the prototype fleet, and expect to continue to showcase and develop. The plan is to always have something going, and back up plans should there be stall out (or buy out or bail out!) . After all, this is my one and only job now, and I am 100% committed to making this company a success !
All for now, have a great New Year, we plan to !

Passionate inventing and the grand vision
Greetings
I thought I'd get a few thoughts out before I disappear for awhile.
First off. Yes, I am working on something big, really big. It's been the plan all along. The MoaB (TM) repositioner was supposed to be a slam dunk and finance the larger project.
However, it seems to be a 'binary" idea that was before it's time.
We all learned a lot in the process and I certainly do not regret having taken that route.
In fact, keys concepts were revealed that are proving crucial to moving forward.
Also, technology, materials, and wind/water sports have progressed, as well as my own education.
I came up with the big idea a number of years ago, which is actually a collection of concepts put together that satisfy some great "What if you could" questions. Interspersed among the MoaB field sessions has been some top secret testing of these concepts. I now know most of them do work in practice and theoretically they may work together. A LOT of time and energy is going into design work, engineering, and planning. Some serious science, especially physics/math. is involved.
I love to invent from scratch. It's easier to think outside the box that way. Conventional wisdom is both an enemy and an opportunity. Questioning and determining the validity of that wisdom is a lot of work and most do not ever do so. It is much easier to build upon the work of others. Once I have a good hypothesis going, THEN I look and see what others have done and what the conventional wisdom is. Often, this means a dead end or someone has beat me to it. But if I can find a flaw, or a truth not well known, then I may be onto something.
I look at "working the problem", a rock climbing expression. For me to have success, this usually means I have to be a little bit obsessed. I think about it all times of the day and night whenever I have any thought free to spare. Our brains are very interesting in how so much is done not by conscious thought, I think this explains why I am never bored, I always have an interesting problem to work on. It is critical to maintain my interest and motivation that I be passionate about whatever it is I am working on.
Back to the grand idea. This is really out there. Probably another binary idea and potentially way ahead of it's time. A fair amount of "but"s and "however"s seem likely. I believe the route to success on this one is an advanced prototype that reliably proves the concepts in a manner that is not open to question. I have a vision of how to do this: a video production that blows peoples minds. Basically a stunt to start off with that has never been done before, followed by footage that shows beyond a doubt the amazing things now possible that makes folks exclaim "I want to do that! Can I buy one of those?" And this is the video that will be shown only to those I want to partner with to make the answer "YES!" I'm talking drone footage, on-board cameras, on-water cameras, on-shore, and on the rider, hopefully using something like Google Glass to show operational parameters in real time from monitoring sensors and GPS. The script is written and a lot of folks will be involved. On a need to know basis only.
Execution: A lot of folks and companies will be involved before this ever gets to the public eye. This is a huge project. Maybe too ambitious. It may be that just one new concept is rolled out at first or that not all concepts will be included. In any event, do not expect this to available any time soon.
Secrecy: Some have heard I am up to something big and are worried. I apologize for this. I can say that there is no plan to disrupt current industry, despite our name! I see this as a huge boost to almost all concerned. Spying or hacking is not necessary but will be fruitless even if attempted. There are no prototypes kept at any of our known locations or in vehicles. We have secure locations that are secret. No files on computers that ever connect to the internet. No notebooks,No documents. Computers are with me personally as I travel or are secured at previously mentioned locations. Past experience has shown me to be way too paranoid about this, but I would rather be safe than sorry nonetheless.
So there you have it. I talked at length but you have no clue still. Even if you do, you really probably don't. I am a master of misdirection, me thinks. I have tried not to tease, but to give reassurance that I have a grand plan but that much patience will be required before seeing the results.
By the way, I quit my day job to give my full brainpower to this. I'm nothing but serious about making this happen!

Top Secret
Been quiet lately because we are working on a top secret project and it just seems cruel to tease folks. However, I do want you to know that we are very excited and moving forward, just not in a public way right now.
